What I believe friend is? actually its a tough question but I don't know if my my thought about friends would relate to your perspective of thinking.
For me a friend is a deep and pure relationship without an demands fill with care,mutual understanding,love, support,fun and shoring up each other through every thick and thin.Having a single best friend who possess all these characters is better than knowing the whole world.A friend is the greatest gift you can have in your life.Having a believe that you have someone in your life who will be with you and support you through all struggles of your life is a very relaxing feeling.Sharing our worries knowing that they would listen to you,creating fun moments together is something I believe is very precious.One day,with shiny grey hair ,sitting on a grandma chair,remembering these precious moment you created will make you grin,smile and even force you to laugh hard and that would be the moment when you will think "damn! My life was awesome"
Friendship I think is important for every relation we have in life,like father-son mother-daughter,between siblings and with your life partner too.Sincere friends can be single or even be in a group,like your school/college/university friends or your friends of your neighborhood.best friends can be of any race,caste or color but what makes a true friend its his/her honesty,their concern for you without any complaints or demands.it could be possibles that they look careless,doesn't express their feelings but you could be in deepest parts of their hearts,they really care for you.
It doesn't matter if you can relate this to your friends or not,but if you have that friend in your life that everyone wishes for,then trust me you are the luckiest person and every one is lucky,but if you are still finding your crazy partner,remember,you have to develop these traits of a true friend in yourself first and then go on! someone is eagerly waiting to make you their friend for life #crazyfriends 😉
